Custom Made Dining Tables -
handcrafted to fit your space.

Its easy. Just pick one of our online examples or call and speak to one of our friendly sales associates. They have on average over 11 years experience helping people create Samuel S. Case custom tables. Over the years we have designed tables to fit every imaginable need from wheel chair accessible tables to banquet tables that seat 30 people and then break down to fit in an elevator. Most tables can be built in 3 to 6 weeks. Delivery time is an additional 1 to 3 weeks in the Eastern US and 3 to 6 weeks in the Western US. And like everything we sell, if you are not completely satisfied you may return it within 30 days for a full refund (see warranty page for details).

Three Types of Tables. The first step in specifying your custom table is to select one of our three table types. They are Farm table, Extension table, and Drop Leaf table.

Farm Tables. Usually long and narrow. The boards run the length of the table. These are “fixed top” tables as they do not open to take leaves. They can be ordered with company boards, which are extensions that fit on the ends of the table.   Extension Tables. The boards run across the width of the table. The tables open in the center to take leaves. These tables can have additional center legs which bolt on to add stability when multiple leaves are used.   Drop leaf Tables. These tables have leaves attached with hinges that fold up when needed. For tables with leaves 12” wide or less a cleat that swings out of the apron to support the leaf. For wider leaves one or more of the legs swings out to support the leaf.

Table styles. The next step is to select a style. If you see a table shown on our site that is a farm table and you need an extension table, no problem. Just call and tell us what you like. You can select any leg style or top shape to get the right table to fit your needs.

Table size and room size.
Usually you want to allow three feet from the table to the wall or other furniture. If you have to you could get by with a little less space, especially when using side chairs.

Table widths
36” is good for the kitchen, but allows only limited space for serving pieces.
40” to 48” widths are good for dining tables. For best proportions keep shorter tables as narrow as possible.
48” allows two people on an end if required in a pinch.

Table lengths
5’ tables will seat 4
6’ tables will seat 6
7’ tables will seat 8 when using Windsor chairs
7.5’ tables will seat 8 when using cabinetmaker’s chairs
Please call for additional help, we can make adjustments in table overhang and other factors to get you the seating capacity you need in your space.

Table Leaves
One 24” leaf adds seating for two additional people (one on each side of the table)
One 18” company board add seating for two additional people (we only sell company boards in pairs, which adds seating for four)
