Museum Series Brace Back Windsor Arm Chair Click thumbnail for larger image   These chairs are reproductions of classic Rhode Island chairs. The lower tapered part of the legs is swelled, a feature only found on Rhode Island Chairs. The arm chair is basically a bow back side chair with arms attached. The Brace Back name comes from the two extra spindles that terminate at the “tail piece” which is a feature added to the seat just for this purpose. Oak bendings and spindles, Maple turnings. Mahogany arms, which are stained a classic Mahogany color when the chairs are ordered with a painted finish. Seats available in your choice of Choice of Pine, Maple, Tiger maple, or Cherry. Pine is the most historically correct choice for the seat. Please be aware that Pine will have seasoning splits, knots, sap pockets and specks.
