Museum Series Continuous Arm Windsor Arm Chair
Museum Series Continuous Arm Windsor Arm Chair

Named for its unique design feature in which the arms and back are formed from one continuously curved piece of wood. The wood is steamed until it is as flexible as a rubber hose. Wearing heavy leather gloves the chair maker pulls the part from the steam bath and wraps the hot steaming part around a form and clamps it in place to cool and dry. The part for this model chair is more difficult to do than any other because its compound curve must be clamped in three directions. The process must be completed in less than a minute or the wood will become too cool to bend. Windsor chairs originated in England. The continuous Arm chair is, however, the only early Windsor chair design that is 100% American in origin. Oak bendings and spindles, Maple turnings. Seats available in your choice of Choice of Pine, Maple, Tiger maple, or Cherry. Pine is the most historically correct choice for the seat. Please be aware that Pine will have seasoning splits, knots, sap pockets and specs.

Furniture Finishes

About our stain colors: We make our own stains right here in our shop in Virginia. Mr. Case has designed 12 exclusive colors for our furniture. These special dye stains create colors that are much richer than those offered by the mainstream furniture industry. Unlike pigment stains that tend to mask the wood grain, our stains allow the grain to come alive in a variety of subtlety different shades. The down side to our stains is that they tend to be a little inconsistent. Things like the humidity and temperature on any given day can cause them to be lighter or darker. We can provide you with actual wood samples, however please be aware that the actual furniture will likely be different than the sample.

View larger samples of our finish selections by clicking on the small samples below. Please note that these colors are close approximations to the actual colors. Due to monitor variations and natural variations in the wood itself, the actual colors may vary from what you see here.
